Summer 2021

Here we are in the dog days of summer already. I hope this note finds you all well and enjoying the season. As we slowly adjust to a new rhythm, I am feeling hopeful and more at ease, though life remains unpredictable, changeable and full of surprises.

One such good surprise for me this month, is the recent signing of a book contract for my nonfiction work-in-progress, SHIFT: Stories and Strategies for a New Paradigm. Golden Dragonfly Press, based in Amherst, MA, will be publishing the book, set for release in late Fall 2021 or Winter 2022. Stay tuned for updates on when and where to purchase the book. For a sneak peek, visit my synopsis page which includes two brief excerpts from the book.

New short fiction, nonfiction and poetry are added weekly to various publications on Medium.com, so be sure to check out my stories there. Here is a direct link to my page where you can “Follow” me to be alerted to stories as they publish live. If you read a story that you like, feel free to give me some claps to help boost my readership. My latest story to post this summer on Medium.com was the flash fiction piece, If You Want to Know Me, published in the wonderful Scuzzbucket on July 9.

Other recent stories published this season include:

~ Violin Lessons, published in Wordsmith Library. I have just been added as a writer for their new, independent publication as well, so stay tuned for future news. Here is a link to their new website.

~ Minus Fifty Degrees, published in The Junction. This short story is based on the essay I wrote on Andrew Miguel Fuller, titled Degrees of Isolation: From Antarctica to Pandemic America.

Other stories outside the realm of Medium.com will continue to be accessible here on my website, as I continue to put together several interconnected collections of short stories. I hope to publish these collections consecutively in 2022-2023.

Thank you again for your ongoing support of my writing. Enjoy these summer days in good health and leisure!
Mary
